Len Perna - President & CEO

Len Perna has been a top executive in the sports industry since 1985 when he began his sports career as a business attorney for Cap Cities ABC/ESPN, Inc. Len's hands-on experience since that time spans sales, marketing, broadcast, facility development, facility management, licensing, acquisitions, and senior level management.

Before founding Turnkey Sports, Len served as the Vice President of Business Operations & General Counsel of the Dallas Stars where he helped drive the Stars from the bottom of the NHL in revenue to the top. Len gained passage of the "Brimer Bill" in Texas for sports facility funding and served as the point person in the creation of the American Airlines Center.

Prior to the Stars, Len served as the Executive Director-General Sales Manager of the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Red Wings, the FOX Theater Group and the facility management company, Olympia Entertainment, Inc. Len managed all sales, broadcast, licensing, publishing and new business opportunities (including acquisitions), increasing revenues by more than 400 percent.

Len received his B.A. from the University of Michigan, magna cum laude, and his J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law, magna cum laude. Len also graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University with a Masters in Sports Business Management and summa cum laude from the Sports Executive Training Program at New York University.

Melissa Dean - Senior Vice President

Melissa Dean serves as the Vice President of Finance and Advisory Services for Turnkey Sports. Melissa leads the Advisory Services business unit, where she has built a strong reputation for providing extremely detailed financial analytics for transactions involving mergers, acquisitions, valuations, appraisals, facility development and market demand. In addition, Melissa is responsible for identifying, creating and managing Turnkey’s strategic alliances, including the TeamBuilder Alliance, Turnkey-Shugoll and Turnkey-ERA. Melissa oversees the administration of all company operations including staffing and marketing, and acts as Turnkey’s Controller.

Before joining Turnkey, Melissa served for seven years in Europe and the U.S. at PricewaterhouseCoopers specializing in financial services industries. Melissa worked with such clients as AXA, Chase, Citibank, Fidelity, JP Morgan and other global clients. Melissa holds a B.S. degree in accounting and finance from the University of Southern California and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

Haynes Hendrickson - Senior Vice President

Haynes Hendrickson heads up the Turnkey Sports Market Intelligence division. He oversees the sales, service, execution and analysis of Turnkey’s suite of FanTrak products to professional sports and entertainment companies. He joined Turnkey Sports in September 2005.

Prior to joining Turnkey Sports Haynes spent 6 years as Director, Direct Response Marketing for Kroenke Sports Enterprises, overseeing all of the database marketing and market research initiatives for KSE. Haynes provided market, demographic, geographic and psychographic analysis for KSE’s sponsorship, marketing and ticket sales departments. His first job in professional sports was with his hometown favorite Philadelphia Phillies for 5 years.

Haynes is a graduate of the University of Vermont. Haynes is an avid skier, golfer and runner with 10 marathons currently under his belt.

Michael Mayle - Vice President, Information Technology

Michael serves as Vice President of Information Technology at Turnkey Sports. Michael is responsible for driving the development of new technologies for the company, including next-generation business intelligence software. As VP of Information Technology, he definitely has the best computer monitor.

Before joining Turnkey, Michael served in the US Navy as a nuclear reactor operator, then became a carpenter and full-time student (Temple University), played guitar and sang in a rock band, and then finally became a programmer at Disc Makers in Pennsauken, NJ, where he could always find a pickup band for a weekend gig. While at Disc Makers, he managed many large scale projects, eventually becoming the Programmer Manager.

In his spare time, Michael enjoys community theater, singing and song writing, working on his house, and spending quality time with his wife and son. Born and raised in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio, Michael is a rabid Ohio State fan and is quite happy to be working in an office full of Michigan fans because [edited for content]. Go Buckeyes!

Kyle Mathiot - Senior Application Developer

Kyle serves as a Senior Applications Developer in Turnkey's Information Technology department.

Before joining Turnkey, Kyle worked for CIGNA Corporation as an application developer in their Human Resources department where he was responsible for the development and support of their corporate intranet website and their external job applicant website.  He also brings a strong background in infrastructure/operations management and project management from previous roles at CIGNA.

Kyle is currently pursuing his MBA at Temple University's Fox School of Business and holds a BS in Information Systems and Technology from Drexel University.

Kyle spends most of his free time supporting the Philadelphia area sports teams.  In addition to sports, Kyle enjoys playing or listening to music.

Emily Huddell - Project Director

Emily manages Turnkey’s NHL, MLB, NLL and AHL accounts. Her primary responsibilities include developing research strategies, analyzing market intelligence information, and advising clients on data activation. A Boston University graduate, Emily worked with the MLBPA, the WUSA’s Boston Breakers, and the Brentford Bees before joining Turnkey. She also consulted for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the UMass Athletic Department while receiving an MS in Sport Management from UMass Amherst.

To counterbalance her involvement with sports, Emily has been active in theater for many years. In her most recent performance, she played Ariel in a touring production of “The Little Mermaid”.

Nikolay Panchev - Director of Research

Nikolay takes the lead on Turnkey’s more extensive research projects. He is responsible for the concept development and execution of Turnkey’s first syndicated research endeavor – the Turnkey Team Brand Index. Nikolay also works with NBA clients to help them utilize market research in their everyday business practices.

Nikolay received a BA in Business Administration from the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) and a Masters degree in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Prior to joining Turnkey, Nikolay worked for the FIBA European Basketball Championship for Men (EuroBasket).

While at AUBG, Nikolay was a four-year member of the men’s basketball team, and a three-year team captain. When not playing basketball or running in his free time, he enjoys arguments with US friends and colleagues about football, not football, being the world’s best game.

David Stys - Project Director

David manages Turnkey’s NFL and College Athletics client accounts. His primary responsibilities include project development from recommending research methods to survey design and deployment. He also consults with clients on analysis and data visualization.

A graduate of Villanova University, David began his career at The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) where spent five years involved with the science operations of NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope (HST). At STScI he assisted HST general observers, archival researchers and instrument scientists in the reduction and analysis of scientific and calibration data. David supported NASA’s on-orbit servicing missions and participated in the pre-launch, thermal-vacuum testing of the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph. To complement his scientific background with other technical skills, David and his brother co-developed a fully functional e-commerce website for a publicly traded business based in Maryland.

David later earned his MS degree in Sport Management from The University of Massachusetts at Amherst, focusing his studies on college athletics and his interest in market research. David served as the Director of Men’s and Women’s Basketball Operations Intern for Harvard Athletics under coaches Kathy Delaney-Smith and Frank Sullivan.

Some of David’s other interests include photography, coaching high school, and attending live concerts.

Josh Brickman - Project Coordinator

Josh serves as Project Coordinator for Turnkey Sports & Entertainment’s Market Intelligence division.  He is responsible for assisting the Director of Research in all facets of research, analysis, reporting, and survey programming for Turnkey’s NBA clients and in-depth projects.

Prior to joining Turnkey, Josh served as the Marketing Research Intern with the Philadelphia Eagles where he helped with the management of the Eagles Extra Points program and conducted research and analysis for the Marketing and Corporate Sales departments.

Josh received his BA in International Relations and Economics as well as his MS in Economics from Lehigh University. While pursuing his dual degree’s as an undergraduate Josh was a member of the Men’s Crew team.  While pursing his MS, Josh served as a graduate assistant in the Lehigh Athletics department.  In this capacity he worked in the Media Relations, Broadcasting, Archiving, and Imaging departments. 

A native of Connecticut, Josh loves reading, watching movies, the Red Sox and the Patriots, and spending as much time as possible on Cape Cod.

David Highhill - Project Coordinator

David serves as a Project Coordinator for Turnkey Sports & Entertainment’s Market Intelligence division.  He assists with all stages of marketing intelligence implementation including the programming, collection and analyzing of research data.

David graduated with a Bachelor of Arts as well as Master of Science degree in Psychology from Lehigh University.  While pursuing his masters, he conducted research focusing on college athletics, while coaching the men’s novice and varsity rowing teams.

As a transplant from the frozen tundra of Minnesota, David believes that the winters here aren’t that bad, enjoys watching Vikings Football, and probably drinks more coffee than he should.

Ryan Jonas - Project Coordinator

Ryan serves as Project Coordinator for Turnkey Sports & Entertainment’s Market Intelligence division. He is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the research process for clients in all areas of the sports and entertainment industry.

Ryan received his BA in Public Relations and Political Science from the University of Miami – Coral Gables. At Miami, Ryan was a member of the rowing team. After graduating, he worked at a public relations firm in Miami. He worked on several accounts, including Home Depot and Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority. He left South Florida to attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he earned a MBA and a MS in Sport Management.

A native of Wisconsin, Ryan loves watching movies and football, particularly “The U” and his beloved “Cheeseheads.”

Crystal McCool - Project Coordinator

Crystal serves as a Project Coordinator. Her primary role is to support Turnkey’s Project Directors with all aspects of the Turnkey/client relationship, including research analysis and reporting, survey programming, and client training. Crystal’s main focus involves assisting with the service of MLB clients; however, she also works on projects for numerous other leagues and properties, and is the primary manager of the Turnkey Sports Poll.

Crystal graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. She started at Turnkey as an intern brought in specifically to assist with the development of the Turnkey Team Brand Index, a project she now continues to be involved with in her current full time role.

Outside of the office, Crystal enjoys decorating her new house, attending Fightin’ Phils games (her hometown favorite) and defeating boys in fantasy football.

Carolyne Savini - Director of Recruiting

Carolyne Savini manages retained executive searches for Turnkey. She has recruited some of the industry’s top executives for properties such as the New Meadowlands Stadium Company (NY Jets and NY Giants), NASCAR Media Group, Los Angeles Dodgers, NBA, and Intersport

Prior to joining Turnkey, Carolyne developed proposals and sold sponsorship packages for Learfield Sports at the University of Memphis Tiger Sports Property. Carolyne received her MBA and Masters in Sports Administration from Ohio University. She received her B.A. in Communications with a Minor in French Language & Literature from the University of Pittsburgh. While at Pitt, Carolyne was a member of the Varsity Swimming Team and earned both academic and athletic All-America honors.

A native of the South Jersey Shore, she enjoys summers at the beach, swimming, golf and futile attempts to carry a tune in karaoke - a personal favorite when serenading the office: Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart.

Mark Gress, Jr. handles retained executive searches and has played a key role in filling several Senior Vice President, Vice President and Director-level positions with some of the top sports properties in the world including the Atlanta Falcons, St. Louis Blues, and Major League Baseball Advanced Media.

Before joining Turnkey, Mark worked with the Philadelphia Eagles in their Premium Services Department, servicing corporate clients and managing suite holders’ business meetings held at Lincoln Financial Field. At the Eagles, Mark gained valuable experience in customer service and relationship-building.

Mark received his B.S. in Sport Management from Drexel University’s Goodwin College of Professional Studies where he also worked as an Assistant Coordinator of Operations for the Dragons’ Athletic Department. He was a Sports Columnist for Drexel’s Student Newspaper, The Triangle, for four years and still freelances from time to time.

A native of Philadelphia, Mark is an avid golfer who snapped the head of his Big Bertha driver on more than one occasion.

Diana Koch - Senior Recruiter

Diana Koch performs executive searches for Turnkey and has played a key role in filling executive level positions for some of the top sports and entertainment properties in the world including the Philadelphia Eagles, the Arena Football League, the National Basketball Association and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Before joining Turnkey, Diana worked with AAA Mid-Atlantic in their Human Resources department, recruiting and placing a wide range of positions in their corporate office. She also spent time with the Albany River Rats, the AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils in their Marketing and Community Relations departments.

Diana received her B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Spanish from Union College in Schenectady, NY. While at Union, she was a member of Alford House, a theme house that produced campus-wide events surrounding current sporting events.

A native of Toronto, Ontario, Diana has moved seven times throughout her life, making stops in Boston, Denver, Philadelphia, and Celebration, FL: the Disney-created town in Orlando, white-picket fence and all.

Esther Polgar serves as Executive Search Coordinator for Turnkey. Prior to joining Turnkey, Esther worked in the Marketing Department of the Philadelphia Eagles and in the Athletics Department of University of Pennsylvania.

Esther graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. At Penn, she was a member of the Varsity Women’s Lacrosse Team. Esther originally assisted both Turnkey Search and Turnkey Intelligence, and found her niche on the search side.

A native of Radnor, Pennsylvania, Esther loves the Eagles, the Phillies and the Flyers. She also enjoys an active lifestyle, eating good food and spending time with the people she loves.

Patrick Kuhlen - Marketing Director

Patrick manages communication related projects for Turnkey Sports and Entertainment. He is responsible for creative development of online and print advertising, marketing collateral and public relations efforts.

Prior to joining Turnkey, Patrick was a public relations and design consultant for a national group of medical centers and a non-profit veterans association.

Patrick received a B.A. in Communication, specializing in radio, television and film, and an M.A. in Public Relations from Rowan University.

During his time as an undergraduate and graduate student at Rowan, Patrick was an active member of the university’s radio station. He hosted music programs and helped produce an award winning documentary series.

Keith McKay - Accounting

Keith handles day-to-day bookkeeping functions for Turnkey.

Prior to joining Turnkey, Keith was Administrative Director for the Philadelphia based non-profit Clean Air Council, overseeing all accounting and human resource functions. He also served as Business Director for the independent 12th Street Gym in Philadelphia and two Ladies Workout Express franchises. He began his career as an accountant with the Delaware Valley Medical Center.

Keith received certification as a paralegal from the American Institute of Paralegal Studies and studied Business Management and Broadcasting at Temple University in Philadelphia.

In addition to his work at Turnkey, Keith enjoys buying and selling antiques and collectibles, bowling and playing softball, while chasing after his twin boys.
